    Figure B

If the light fixture in your kitchen doesn't match the decor, why not upgrade it?

    Materials:

    Flat- and Phillips-head screwdrivers
    Circuit tester
Needle-nose pliers to bend and shape wires
    Wire nuts
Toggle bolts or wood screws to secure new light fixture

    1. Turn off the power to the fixture at the breaker box.
    2. Remove the cover plate for the fixture (figure A), and pull the fixture away from the junction box.
    3. Unscrew the wire nuts, and use a circuit tester to make sure the power is off. Remove the fixture from the ceiling.
    4. Connect the wires for the new fixture, attaching black to black and white to white (figure B). Secure the connections with wire nuts.
    5. Push the wires into the junction box, and secure the new fixture with screws.
